Sports

Grandhouse has initiated the organisation of tournaments in different sports for the members to compete. In view of the special relationship with the Diplomatic Corps in Hungary, the Club is extending the invitation to participate also to the diplomats and staff-members of the embassies based in Budapest. Besides, in order to highlight the friendly atmosphere of these tournaments, families of both Club-members and diplomats/staff from embassies and guests are welcome as well.

The second competition was a Table-tennis Tournament, held in the Marczibányi Sportcentrum on May 13, 2017. We had only four members from Grandhouse, 12 persons from the embassies, four other guests and several spectators and some children. The five group-winners played a mini-tournament with the following result: 1) Dr Miroslav Kolar (Slovakian Embassy), 2) Tibor Kugel (Grandhouse member), 3) Damir Maracic (CEPOL), 4) Abpassov Kuanish (Kazakh Embassy) and 5) Dr János Almai (dentist). See picture below of the first three winners.

Grandhouse Club will have the following point-system for its own members. The first five winners in each tournament will get following points; the no. 1 gets 10 points; the no. 2 gets 8 points and so on. The points for each tournament will be added to arrive at the Total Points. At the end of each two years we will then have our "Grandhouse Sportsperson" of the last two years.

The winner of each two years will select an additional sport/game for the next two years and will help organize all sports/games during the next two years.

These additions until we reach a total of ten sports/games, which will be unaltered unless by decision of the Board of Trustees.

The scores of the first tournament as follows:

Grandhouse Sport Events in 2015 and 2016

The first competition was a Table-tennis Tournament, held in the Marczibányi Sportcentrum on September 5, 2015. We had ten members from Grandhouse and 16 persons from the embassies. We played three mini-competitions on 10 ping pong tables: one for Grandhouse members and two for the embassies from 2.00 pm to 6.00 pm. A tiring, but pleasant day to get to know each other in different circumstances. Most of us had not played for years (some for decades) and that could be clearly noticed at the end of the competition: utterly exhausted.

The group-winners were: Michal Andrukoni, Minister-Counsellor at Polish Embassy, Iftekhar Aziz, Ambassador of Pakistan and Tibor Kugel. See picture below of these champions in the same order.

Grandhouse Club will have the following point-system for its own members. The first ten winners in each tournament will get points; the no. 1 will get 10 points; the no. 2 gets 9 points and so on. The points for each tournament will be added to arrive at the Total Points. At the end of each two years we will then have our "Grandhouse Sportsperson" of the last years.

The winner of each two years will select an additional sport/game for the next two years and will help organize all sports/games during the next two years.

These additions until we reach a total of ten sports/games, which will be unaltered unless by decision of the Board of Trustees.
